I often get asked if I charge for eyewear styling consultations & how I price for the services.
It’s a topic that I love to discuss and one that you should also be considering if you are looking to develop your offering and introduce eyewear styling into your practice.
Building New Skills
Initially when I first introduced my styling consultations at Style Optique, I did not charge.
This was for several reasons, but mainly because it was a new process I had recently developed and I was learning, and acquiring news skills.
I had wanted the flexibility in order to improve the new process according to each of my client’s reactions. And this proved to be really helpful.
However, after the first 6 months it was obvious that the process was providing invaluable help to my clients, & I saw the appointments grow considerably.
As my skills developed, my clients would point out how fabulous the service was and how they were feeling empowered and transformed both by the styling advice and help they were been given.
Each consultation would take approximately an hour but the financial results were also incredible! Ironically, when we began charging, even more people came!
I am a trained eyewear styling expert & I offer tremendous value; not just advising about colours and styles that will work for clients eyewear but also advice on their entire look if they request it.
I view my job as an Image expert or eyewear stylist, as important as my skills I have as an optometrist, or my team’s roles as Dispensing Opticians. I believe both sets of skills should be valued equally in practice.
In fact I am so passionate about eyewear styling that I had absolutely no problem investing over £25,000 on my own personal image and style training because I knew exactly what I wanted for my clients.
I knew that a high end ‘’styling consultation” didn’t exist in the Optical Industry, so I had to research and create it myself. And I have made a return on my investment many times over, with my average dispense value growing from £120 to over £1,000 plus since styling, and my turnover quadrupling in just 3 years!
Training other Opticians
I then invested further in creating an interactive e -learning Eyewear Stylist Course for the Optical Industry.
This was because I was so excited to share my experience of delighting my client and growing my practice with others in the industry. I discovered a new, tried and tested way to inject some fun and excitement into Optical practices and the optical industry.
And for a fraction of my initial investment, you get the chance to put your entire team through my exact step-by-step process, which took me years to create! Plus acquire the skill set you need to be a great eyewear stylist in an optical practice environment – enabling you to add incredible value to your clients experience, increase your average dispense value and make you stand out from the high street! What’s not to love!
